The Shop

Infamous Delicacies

Located in the heart of Vienna, Julius Meinl am Graben is the one food store that remains in the hands of the family following the sale of the rest of the food retail business that began in 1998.

Today, Julius Meinl am Graben is a culinary masterpiece and Austria’s first address for gourmets. The store reopened on 22nd October 2021 following comprehensive renovation. On two floors it offers the finest culinary delights from all over the world in an incomparable atmosphere. It is a unique and iconic experience, benefiting from clever modern architecture whilst remaining deeply rooted in its Viennese heritage.

Extraordinary choice and quality

Julius Meinl am Graben has an extensive range of delicacies and beverages comprising more than 17,000 products, including over 400 cheeses, 100 olive oils and 500 of the finest chocolates and confectionery products expertly sourced from all over the world.

Shall it be caviar or white truffles for your risotto? Or the finest cut from the store’s renowned selection of organic meats? Or a sought-after Bordeaux?

There is almost no delicacy on a gourmet’s list that cannot be found at Julius Meinl am Graben!

A large selection of these products (generally excluding fresh produce) is for sale also online at www.meinlamgraben.eu.

How May I Serve You?

At the core of the business is a 160-year tradition in sourcing the best foods, wines and spirits. A tradition that puts service to the customer at the heart of everything. The company’s motto has thus been unchanged since its founder, Julius Meinl I, started his business in 1862: “How may I serve you?”.

Delights & Luxurious Delicacies

In the course of the recent renovation, the presentation of the goods was changed and the areas were redistributed. The enlarged fish counter is now located in the basement near the now reduced fruit area, the meat counter was deliberately enlarged, as Julius Meinl am Graben offers an almost incomparable range of meat and sausage products. In return, the frozen food assortment has been reduced. Wine can now be found on the 1st floor. There is also a new event area that can be used flexibly. The outdoor area remained the same – there, about 60 seats invite you to linger and drink coffee.

Tradition & Indulgence

After having indulged in Julius Meinl’s culinary world there is no better place to rest than Meinl’s Café with its terrace on Kohlmarkt, the most prestigious shopping street in Vienna. This is where people get together to enjoy the traditional Viennese art of coffee. The menu offers 35 different ways to prepare a cup of coffee, starting with the classic Melange or favourites like Cappuccino, as well as the lesser-known concoctions like the Einspänner, Kaffee Verkehrt and Mazagran. Julius Meinl am Graben also offers a wide range of single origin coffees sourced from around the world.
